The Troc: Philly’s #1 Concert Spot
If you are looking for something that is a little out-of-the-box to occupy your weekend, Philadelphia’s Trocadero (1003 Arch St., Philadelphia PA) might be exactly what you are seeking.
First opening its doors in 1870 – yup you read that right – this small theatre, located on the edge of the city’s Chinatown district used to serve as a stage for vaudeville, and now hosts indie acts and cult movies. While the building may seem like it specializes in entertainment from another era, the Troc is a key tour stop for bands looking to create names for themselves. The stage attracts as many bigger artists like My Chemical Romance also prefer it because of the Trocadero’s wonderful acoustics. When the party’s really rocking, the place is known to have a little bit of the 150-year old ceiling come down, but not to worry, there’s a net to catch anything that might fall. Considered to be one of the best music venues in North America, the Troc has a mix of concerts, all-ages events, and even musically enhanced movie screenings.
